Returning Software

Unwanted software cannot be returned to CareFree Online for a refund unless it’s unopened and in its original packaging.

We have to follow this policy because the return of opened software could lead to a possible breach of the Copyright, Designs and Patent Act (CDPA) 1988.

If you’ve bought software and the media is physically faulty, then at the request of the manufacturers, we suggest that you contact the manufacturers/publishers.  Please use the contact information within your user manual to arrange this.

If you return faulty software to us, this will cause a delay in resolving the problem.  By returning the faulty software to the manufacturers/publishers you are not giving up any legal rights you have against us.

Note that opened software is exempt from return under the terms of the Distance Selling Regulations (SI2334/2000).

Returns Policy

We hope that you are pleased with your purchase from CareFree Online.  However, we understand that there are occasions when you need to return goods to us.

Goods Reported Faulty Within 28 Days of Receipt
If you are reporting faulty goods within 28 days of receipt (please note that for business customers, this is 14 days). When the goods are returned to us complete, we’ll issue a full refund to you via your original payment method.

Goods Damaged in Transit
If your goods were damaged in transit, we request that you report it to us within 7 days. If goods are visibly damaged on receipt, its best to sign the delivery note accordingly. Once the damaged goods have been collected and received back into our warehouse, we’ll issue a full refund to you via your original payment method. 

Goods Reported Faulty More Than 28 Days of Receipt
If you are reporting faulty goods more than 28 days after receipt, then we strongly recommend that you contact the manufacturer direct for a warranty repair. This is often the quickest way to have a fault repaired. For example in some cases, manufacturers provide a special full on-site service and / or telephone help facilities for your convenience. Alternatively you can contact us direct if the goods do not conform to contract. 

Used Stock
Please note that our used stock is sold with 3 months warranty only, and therefore any claims under the warranty after 3 months of receipt will be refused.

If You Have Changed Your Mind
If you have changed your mind and you are a private customer (not applicable to business customers), and the goods have not been in your possession for over 10 days, and the item can be sold again as new, then you are entitled to return the goods to us.  Please note that the cost of returning these items is the responsibility of the customer. Note: Return carriage costs paid by the customer.

Delivery Charges Explained

When you’re at the checkout, our system will automatically calculate the delivery charge that is applicable to your order.

In calculating the delivery charge, our system references the size and weight of the items you have chosen, as well as the delivery address and delivery service you choose. For an exact price on carriage therefore, please make sure you visit the checkout section.

The delivery option I want isn’t showing – why is this?

Not all of the delivery services in our range are available for every order. For example, we may not always be able to offer a Next Day 9am service to “outlying areas” such as the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

Similarly, on your first order, you may not be given the option for a Next Day delivery service as we need to perform more actions on your order before dispatch which may delay the process a little.

Please note that Next Day delivery is only available for orders placed before 14:00. Orders placed after 14:00 will be shipped the next working day after placement.

All orders will be subject to stock levels and the website will show you if there is a delay in obtaining an item.

Risk in the Products passes to you when the Products are signed for at the delivery address stipulated in your order. We accept no responsibility for any damage or loss to the Products after risk passes.

Upon receipt of your order you will be asked to sign for the goods received in good condition. If the package does not appear to be in good condition then please refuse the delivery. If you are unable to check the contents of your delivery at the point of delivery then please sign for the parcel as “UNCHECKED”. Failure to do so may affect any warranty claims that you make thereafter.

We will inform you as soon as possible after acceptance if we are unable to deliver the Products to you on the date specified by you and you may agree an alternative delivery period or you may cancel the order. In no event shall we be liable to you for any losses you may have for any delay in delivery and time of delivery shall not be of the essence of the contract.

If you fail to take delivery of the Products and without prejudice to any other rights and remedies available to us, we may:

store the Products until actual delivery and charge you the reasonable costs (including, without limitation, insurance) of storage;

sell the Products at the best readily obtainable price and either:–

where you have not already paid for the Products, account to you (after deducting all reasonable storage and selling expenses) for any excess over the price you agreed to pay for the Products or charge you for any shortfall below the price you agreed to pay for the Products; or

where you have already paid for the Products, account to you (after deducting all reasonable storage and selling expenses) for any proceeds received.

Only Part of my order has arrived

Sometimes, if necessary, we will ship an order using ‘multiple boxes’.  This can happen for a variety of reasons.  For example if you order a product, such as a printer, which will remain in the manufacturer’s box and a component or accessory, which would be boxed in a Stafford IT Services Online box.

If we send you multiple boxes, each box is assigned its own parcel consignment number.  An automated email will be generated for each box/consignment that is despatched/shipped from our warehouse to you. So for example, if we despatch/ship x3 boxes to you, you’ll receive x3 emails.  With this in mind please check your email inbox before contacting CareFree Online or our delivery company/couriers to locate your goods – this will help you determine if your other boxes are awaiting despatch or are in transit.

Please note that our courier contract only allows for one box per consignment. So for example, an order placed for two printers, will be sent as two separate boxed items, with two different consignment numbers. The customer will receive x2 different emails from us, each showing ‘quantity 1’.

On the other hand, an order placed for two cables will be boxed together in the Stafford IT Services Online warehouse, so the one box will be treated as a single consignment.  The customer will therefore receive a single email showing ‘quantity 2’.

All our hardware is covered for 1 year from the date of purchase unless stated otherwise on the item you are purchasing. Warranty beyond this period is direct with the manufacturer. We will at all times help you to get in touch directly with the manufacturer and help you to provide you with whatever documentation you require.

Purchase of Products

The placing of a Product on our Website is an invitation to accept offers for such Product and is not an offer to sell at the listed price nor is it binding on us. We are under no obligation to accept your order (whether or not the order has been confirmed and the credit card been charged).

We will acknowledge by e-mail your order for a Product at the time you place your order. We will then notify you within 5 days of such email whether we have accepted your order. At the same time if we have accepted your order we will notify you of delivery dates.

Any order (whether or not accepted) is subject to availability of the Product. If the Product becomes unavailable prior to delivery we will notify you within 14 days of acceptance of your order and give you the choice of cancelling the order and receiving a refund or of purchasing an alternative product (“Alternative Product”). If payment has been taken for the Product and you have cancelled the order we will issue a refund within 7 days of receiving notification of cancellation of the order. If you choose to purchase an Alternative Product these Terms will apply. If payment has been taken for the cancelled order we will refund to you any overpayment or take payment for any underpayment.

In the event a Product is listed at an incorrect price due to an error, we will notify you within 14 days of accepting your order of the correct price by e-mail and we will give you the choice of either purchasing the Product at the correct price or cancelling your order. If you confirm you want to purchase the Product at the corrected price we will deliver the Product to you. If payment has been taken for the Product and you cancel your order we will, on return of the Product (if the Product has been sent out) issue a refund within 7 days of such return or notice of cancellation (where no Product has been sent out). If only some of the Products you ordered are mispriced that will not affect the order in relation to any Products which were priced correctly and we will deliver these Products to you in accordance with these Terms.

Prices and Payment

The prices for the Products and delivery are as set out on the Website at the time of purchase. In addition to the price you may be required to pay a delivery charge for the Products details of which are displayed on our Website.

If you fail to pay us any sum due pursuant to the contract, you shall be liable to pay interest to us on such sum from the due date for payment interest at the rate set out under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

Payments may also be made by credit or debit card, by BACS transfer or by cheque and we shall not despatch any Products until we receive cleared funds.

Your payment will be processed by a secure connection at the time you place your order on the relevant section of the Website.

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, it will be severed from the rest of these Terms and Conditions which shall remain unaffected.

Limitation of our liability

Whilst we have taken all reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information on this Website it is provided on an “as is” basis and we give no warranty and make no representation regarding the accuracy or completeness of the content of this Website. Further, no warranty is given that the Website shall be available on an uninterrupted basis, and no liability can be accepted in respect of losses or damages arising out of such unavailability.

Access to and use of this Website is at your own risk. We do not warrant that the use of this Website or any material downloaded from it will not cause damage to any property, including but not limited to loss of data or computer virus infection. We accept no liability for viruses. We recommend that you take all appropriate safeguards before downloading information or images from the Website.
